Wayne Lions Club Press Release 2007

The Wayne Lions Club has been a major supporter of the Wayne Day Festivities and we are pleased to do so again this year.

At this years event the Lions will be serving the Wayne community with free eye examinations in the Lions Eye Mobile which will be located nearby the St Josephs Hospital tent.

The Lions will also be serving their famous Sausage Sandwiches in the food court as they do each year.

The Lions have been an active and important part of the development of Wayne Day. It was more than 15 years ago that the Wayne Lions spearheaded by our deceased Lion member, Harry Sylvester actively pursued the concept of Wayne Day with the then Mayor & Town Council. During these past 15 years Lion members, Joe Balzarotti, a charter member of Wayne Day and Richard Herman have held key positions on the board of directors and have been actively involved with the ongoing development of Wayne Day.

The purpose of Wayne day was for a day of celebration at which the township’s many service organizations, religious groups, municipal services and local merchants could meet to have a day of enjoyment, make new & become reacquainted with friends, as well as to learn more about the diversity of the Township of Wayne.

The Wayne Lions are a group of dedicated individuals whose primary purpose is helping those afflicted with loss of sight by providing eyeglasses and medical assistance World Wide. We are actively involved locally in volunteering our time and donating money towards the support of the Wayne Foundation for the Handicapped, our First Aid Squad, Volunteer Fire Dept, Library, the St. Joseph’s School for the Blind and the many other worthwhile causes.

The Lions raise their funds through their annual Golf Outing, 50/50 Raffle, Beefsteak Dinner Dance as well as their many other charitable fund raising efforts.

We welcome new members, for information regarding the Wayne  Lions please contact, Lion Joe Hallock at 973-692-0001.
